I am happy to report we officially have one in the win column!!!  It might not have been the prettiest win you have ever seen, but we are a scrappy little crew here and we plan to battle all the way through to the weekend and beyond!
We began our day answering phones at the Sandra Schmirler Telethon.  It was really exciting to be a part of such a wonderful cause and to celebrate Sandra!  We all answered numerous calls … well almost all of us; clearly Heather’s phone line was last in the queue as she received only 3 calls – I am not sure she actually understood how to work the phones, tough break for Heather.  Thank you to my dad who brought me a coffee while I was working so hard on the phones.  Thank you to everyone who called in to make this year’s telethon the most successful one yet!
Our game against Team Canada had moments of brilliance followed by some not so brilliant moments.  Jen had a great game, they were just a bit sharper today, what can we say.  We look forward to the possible rematch next weekend.
I really cannot say enough about our fans today.  Things escalated quickly around here as the “boys” showed up in a variety of wigs … afros, mullets, you name it, we they were sporting it all today!  And even though we lost a tough one in the afternoon they drank right through it and were stronger than ever for the evening draw … you might have heard them on TSN.  Even super 5th got a cheer on the time out in the 9th end (thanks Walter).
I had another chance to throw rocks tonight and Heather was kind enough to accompany me once again.  The pleasant surprise was that I had a full cheering section for my 2 – 10 minute practices this evening,  I could tell the other 5ths were totally jealous.  Like I said I really cannot say enough about these fans, they really are rockstars!  The real bonus of my practice session is that I appear to have come away with a much nicer gripper than I went in with today, let’s keep that one on the down low. After practice it was back to the room for a drink to celebrate our win and relax before heading to bed.  The relax part mostly turned into laughing until we cried ... now it is time for bed : )
Donna, you will be happy to know that the meaning of the Sault Ste. Marie Scotties Event logo is under investigation. I think it will take a few more wine/rums to solve this mystery, but I assure you I am working on it!  I think tomorrow night I will visit the HeatStop Lounge, I should be able to find some answers there.
Cheer hard and keep those emails coming!
Super Sleuth 5th in the the Soo.
